Pitch competitions have gained a lot of buzz over the years and now they seem to be on every street corner. Do pitch competitions have strong value? Some… Are they worth the effort? Depends… So why would anyone what to join KY Pitch? Because we are total rock stars. I am kidding… well kind of…

1.) Experience.
For students in Kentucky, KY Pitch, is an opportunity to experience the startup hustle in a safe space. We are not just about the Finals but about the journey to get there. We want to encourage students to not be afraid to fail. Through failure is growth. No one is going to announce your failures to the world or discount you in anyway in the future. From the business model submission, to the video and finally the finals it is a journey to build, grow and learn.
2.) Learning.
No matter if you are looking to go into the startup and entrepreneurial world or not, the learning and value you gain from KY Pitch is endless. This experience is something that will continue to provide value well into your professional career. Just a few of the areas where you will gain value even if you do not win:
Innovative problem solving. Startups are constantly needing out of the box thinking and learning lean methods to solve various problems. Whether it is dealing with the actual product or the business itself you are consistently solving new problems. This innovative mindset will carry you far in the future.
Public speaking. Do you know more people fear public speaking than death? Public speaking is something that the vast majority of people are going to have to do throughout their career. The only way to overcome that fear is to face it and we have the perfect stage for that!

You will build relationships with people that will change your perspective of the world.
